Is my Indian health insurance enough to enrol at a German university?

No. Enrolment needs a Mitgliedsbescheinigung from a German insurer; Indian travel or health policies do not count. Public student insurance costs between about €145 and €152 a month in 2026 depending on the insurer, and only the insurer's Zusatzbeitrag differs. TK issues the certificate as an instant PDF, which is why most Indian students end up there; AOK and BARMER take a day or three. Note that public student cover starts on the first day of the semester, so you need incoming travel insurance for the weeks before.
