How many Indians live in Germany?

311,130 Indian nationals on 31 December 2025, according to the Federal Statistical Office. That is 2.5 times the 2018 figure. Indians are the largest group of international students (58,833 in winter 2024/25), receive more EU Blue Cards than any other nationality (13,423 in 2025), and have the highest median full-time wage of any nationality here. Two caveats. The count is by citizenship, so Indians who became German are not in it. And Destatis does not publish the number by city, so any "Indians in Munich" or "Indians in Berlin" figure you read is an estimate, including ones on this site that I am slowly replacing with sourced numbers.
